I've had my copy for about a month now and I'm very surprised how quickly my skills have progressed thanks to this book. It's very easy to follow and understand. I'm not all the way through it yet and I'm already coming up with my own tricks based on he moves and ideas in this book. I'd recommend it to all my fellow magicians just starting out.

This was my first magic book. It is the perfect book for the beginner as it has little bits of everything. Basic sleights, basic flourishes. I also very much like that they include many difficult sleights, like the pass, because they take a very long time to master and it's good to get started right way. I think the main selling point is the variety of things that are offered as far as sleights, flourishes, style of tricks, etc. I started looking through my copy and I didn't realize, four years later, how many sleights out of it I still use. Great place to start no matter what you are interested in.

If you are new to magic, this is the perfect book. Not only is it cheap but it has all the information you need to know. This book has so much information, from the classic pass, to the double lift, everything you need is in this book. While the collection of slights is impressive and incredibly useful, the royal road also has a ton of routines that are perfect for people new to magic. You will find effects like cards across and even an acr routine. These tricks are easy and very effective.
The teaching is relativley easy to follow, especially with the drawings, however sometimes you may get a little confused if you read too quickly, having said that, as long as you take your time to understand what the book is saying you will be fine.
Over all, this book is perfect for beginner, not only does it have a superb collection of slights, but it also has some top notch routines. This is a book that every budding magician should have.

I have the DVD version of this and I can tell you that it is. This is great for beginners and will set you on the road to magic. Definitely a must!

I found this book back in 1976, when I was becoming interested in card magic and parlour tricks. I wasn't amazed to see that this book was still in circulation - because it provides excellent instructions on the basics of card tricks.
If you're interested in card magic - this is the first book you should buy. There are several great books - but this is one that should be on every magician's book shelf.
