This trick is a true miracle, just like all the other tricks on The Trilogy. Dave explains every detail and doesn't miss out on anything. Although not very easy because some of the sleights will take some time to master, it is still an amazing trick.

Wow! This one is really nice. When I first saw it I loved it instantly. The effect is very strong, and by the time you have done all the necessary moves (except the final change) you are so ahead of the spectators. This lets you focus on the presentation, which is great. All the moves are explained thoroughly, and they are not so hard as some of you may think. The only move which is a little knackie is the one where you have the spectator select the card, but it's not impossible and you can substitute it if you want with an easier method. With little practise you will fool audiences in no time.

It's a remake of the Hofzinser Ace trick. That's obvious from the title. The Shades of Hofzinser was a trick that had deeply intrigued me a few years ago when I started magic. I had immediately forgotten about it since I thought it was too advanced. A few months ago though, as soon as I saw this, I jumped on the opportunity and bought Dan's and Dave's version of the trick. I was not disappointed.
The force is obvious for magicians (in terms of presence) but useful for spectators. It is a force of which the mechanics are not that simple if you want to perform it correctly, but it is well taught. The sleights are easy and can be mastered within a week at the most. The effect is stunning for an audience especially since the force is so indirect and the card is thought of only.
One must on the other hand be careful and realize that this is a trick for live performances, and mostly for audiences of laymen, NOT MAGICIANS. It's an effect that was made for laymen only on my opinion. This is mainly because of the extravagance of the effect: a spectator will believe it, a magician will be skeptical.
Thus, I recommend this to all magicians and mostly to beginners / intermediates beacuse you will be quickly able to astonish everyone with this simple card trick.

This trick is not impromptu, but you can easily prepare in front of your spectators. The moves is not difficult to learn, but you have to practice to get it smoothly. It's for intermediate level. It's not only finding the selected cards but also a transposition and card change included in this routine.
