Tangled Web

In this first major book by one of the United States' most respected professionals, Eric Mead covers a wide range of magic and mentalism, drawn completely from his professional repertoire and fine-tuned by performance after performance to its present form.

Bar Magic, Close-up Magic, Strolling Magic, Mentalism, Stage--even two pieces for kids (we're serious)

In addition, there are seven instructive and challenging essays, and two chapters devoted to work with a memorized deck and a systematic approach to Vernon's "Trick That Cannot Be Explained"--a professional approach to these topics that is stunning in its depth, intelligence and originality.

This collection of magic is the real deal--or, as Teller describes it in his introduction to Tangled Web:

"There is no bull***t, not a nugget, between these covers. If you're like me, you'll emerge changed, inspired, tingling."

In the belief that exquisite magic deserves an exquisite form, Tangled Web has been produced with bibliophilic sensibilities inside and out. A book that is pleasing to hold and to read. Magic and mentalism that stands with the finest. Yet, at an affordable price.

Eric Mead is probably the smartest living magician. If he isn't the smartest, he's up there. This book has a handful of effects from his routines of the the years, but what are more amazing are the essays. The essays just show a new way to think about magic. Well, not really a new way, but it is a perfect articulation of how all the greatest acts have compiled their acts and make them great. He also shares a lot of experiences from his own career that changed how he thought about magic. I got this book when I was still new to magic so it was out of my league at the time, but the essays still meant something to me. I'm more experienced now, and I'm unlocking the treasures of the book. And yes, the Ace routine "Three Piece Combo" will be topped by nothing.

The only draw back is that he does not include the bunny-bill fold, but that is probably for the best for ethical reasons...

Eric Mead is a genius of a magician, and this book is further proof of that. This book isn't one if you want to learn magic tricks but instead if your wanting to learn about theories and thoughts on magic hence the essays. The essays are brilliant reads and my book is now slightly tatty I have read through it so many times. They are the sorts of chapters you will read and re-read finding new things you hadn't seen before.

Want to take you magic to the next level, get this book, it will improve all areas of your performance and delivery.

The book is really great. It has some awesome stack work and equivoque ideas, along with some powerful workers effects. The Bar Flight routine is great along with the copper silver transpo. The essays in this book however are the real gold to this book explaining great ways to help make your magic memorable. My favorite routine in the book is the four ace routine that slays magicians and laymen alike. Highly Recommended.
